The Advanced Manufacturing Program (AMP) is a program that is designed by Fraunhofer Project Center at the University of Twente to support companies, irrespective of size, development level and industry field in making the transition to a new generation of manufacturing; Industry 4.0.
The AMP is there to support you with the increasingly complex task of choosing and implementing the right technology that suits your needs and that will help you transition into new manufacturing technologies. Moreover, our AMP network can help you stay on top of developments, support decisions making and investigate the benefits of new manufacturing technologies. While doing so, we can train your business managers, engineers and technical staff to use the new innovations effectively.
The Fraunhofer Project Center at the University of Twente is a joint venture of three partners: The University of Twente, the hosting university, the Fraunhofer- Gesellschaft represented by its Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT and Saxion University of Applied Sciences.
The central task of the Fraunhofer Project Center is to transfer current research in advanced manufacturing directly into industrial practice. For this, we focus on the development of technological solutions in the area of production processes, production equipment, digital manufacturing and manufacturing value chain organization.
The leap that needs to be taken to reach Manufacturing 4.0 requires fundamental changes at different levels, such as product-, process-, and production- technologies, digital integrations in and between value chains, offline and online company processes and knowledge and skills of employees on all levels. Each company requires a different approach. We therefore form our project teams with Advanced Manufacturing experts for your challenges based on knowledge and skills that are tailored to your needs.
We have the responsibility to make industry better. So if your company struggles with finding a good solution to optimize you process, find the right bottleneck to solve and develop your organization into the principles of industry 4.0, then contact us!

The AMP requires you to contribute financially and or an in kind (time, resources, equipment). After all, it’s an investment that will be beneficial to your company. The amount of investment that is required depends on the length and scope of the project. The AMP is supported by the Regiodeal that provides us with the possibility to support you in a financial way. How much funding relates to the size of your company, where you are located and what sort of project/outcomes you are looking for. Please contact us for further information.
The results from the AMP program will be translated into the Advanced Manufacturing Center that is currently under development. The AMC will function as a physical location and shop-floor, that will facilitate multidisciplinary interlinking enabling technologies through demonstrators and testbeds that are crucially relevant for advancing the manufacturing as it is.
At the moment, the AMC is still under development, therefore there are no physical demonstrators in that location yet. Nevertheless, until we have our own physical location, we will have an agile approach to build flexible demonstrators that are not dependent of their location. Moreover, we have a automated precision assembly demonstrator located at the High Tech Factory at the University of Twente.
We are always looking for highly skilled and passionate people with at least a university degree. Please send us your resume and your short motivation why you would like to work with us. We would love to hear what your added value will be and what motivates you.
